What is a PAS128 Survey Type A (Verification)?
As defined in PAS128 it is: “The process of exposing a utility and subsequently measuring and recording its accurate location as well as other relevant attributes”
Survey Type A may require ground excavation to expose and locate utilities.
Why would I consider requesting a PAS128 Survey Type A?

Methodology
Survey Type A is achieved by visual inspection of the utilities this can be achieved by 2 methods
Quality Levels
Survey Type A exposes buried utilities for visual verification of type, depth and location, so can be given quality-level QL-A.
Deliverables
A Utility Survey Report will be supplied which includes the location of any trial holes/slit trenches excavated, list of utilities that have been visually verified and all survey data relating to them. List of manhole covers/inspection chambers lifted and all survey data for each one. With where possible supporting photographic evidence. If requested by the client previously supplied digital model format survey data can be revised to show the accurate location and depths of exposed utilities.
