Expert planning for complex energy projects

From design to implementation, our full suite of transmission and distribution services provides the complete infrastructure needed to support and protect the UK’s electrical systems.

With active contracts across a wide variety of clients in a multitude of sectors, including renewables, we provide expert feasibility studies and route planning for a wide range of projects. Our expertise extends from large-scale, multi-kilometre cross-country cable routing to intricate substation rearrangements for voltage levels ranging from 400kV down to Low Voltage (LV).

Our project engineers bring over a decade of experience in working with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to successfully execute multi-million-pound infrastructure projects. Supported by an extensive network of trusted subcontractors, we ensure each project is delivered efficiently and effectively, meeting the highest industry standards.

Key features of our service

Desktop studies

We use Eaton’s CYMCAP software to design power cables and calculate their electrical parameters, as well as calculate the current carrying capacity and thermal effects of cables for installation conditions.

As Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) consultants, we specialise in producing high-quality design studies from initial concept through to detailed design development.

Our team is well-versed in the latest consent process requirements for new projects, offering expert guidance and support in the production of designs and associated drawings for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP) requiring Development Consent Orders (DCO), Developments of National Significance (DNS) or S.37 / Town and Country Act submissions.

Utilising Geographic Information System (GIS) and composite mapping, we provide precise and data-driven route planning to optimise cable layout and minimise disruptions.

Our team performs detailed site surveys, including trial holes and geotechnical assessments, ensuring the route is suitable for underground cable installation.

To support regulatory compliance and minimise ecological impact, we conduct extensive environmental, ecological, and archaeological surveys.

We undertake planning application searches to view details of planning applications being considered by the local authority and track the progress of applications that impact proposed option(s).

We perform geotechnical surveys and site investigations, including soil sampling and testing (CLEA/WAC/TR), ensuring the stability and suitability of the terrain for cable installation.

Our use of GPR allows us to accurately detect subsurface utilities and obstacles, reducing the risk of unforeseen complications during installation.
