We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our project team. You will be responsible for developing and delivering engineering solutions from feasibility to detailed engineering design for Electricity Transmission and Distribution Projects (11 kV and above). This will include but not limited to Structure Foundations, Conductors and Conductor Systems, Structural Design both concept and detailed design.
Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Responsible for the development of preliminary and detailed design and delivery of projects by leading the technical aspects of overhead lines and all other associated equipment including Foundation, Conductors, Conductor Systems, Structural Design, both concept and detailed design.
- Preparation, checking and submission of Design Intent Documents, Design Criteria Reports, Design phase and Overhead Line Analysis reports, provide necessary calculations and /or reports to justify design results.
- Recording design data and design decisions.
- Work alongside and support Lead Engineers and Principal Designers.
- Keep abreast of all legislation particularly Health and Safety and CDM.
- Assess engineering documentation, feasibility and compliance with client requirements and support the preparation of accurate budgets for new projects.
- Ensure Overhead Line designs, equipment and construction practices are in accordance with current legislation, polices and operational requirements.
- In addition to the design of Overhead Line schemes, you will also be expected to review method statement and risk assessments, liaise with construction and site management to make sure designs are properly implemented at every stage of the project and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Liaise across regional offices and teams to provide end to end integrated solutions.
- Support Section Heads in the development of policy or procedural documents or other QA document management systems related to reflect the requirements of LSTC and clients.
- Carry out reasonable duties as directed by Line Manager or Nominated Director
- Main activities take place in an office environment.
- From time to time, you may be required to attend site visits where you will be required to adhere to LSTC health and safety policy, and procedures.
- Visit/work from other LSTC offices as necessary for execution of your work and agreed periods with Line Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related engineering discipline, such as Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. A-level or equivalent in Maths.
- Aspirations for or working towards membership of a relevant professional body, such as MICE, MIStructE, MIET
Experience
- Ideally, competent in the use of industry software such as PLS CADD, PLS Tower, SAPS or other similar packages. Working knowledge of relevant national and industry standards such as BS EN 50341, the ENATS suite and client specific. Typically, 2 years minimum post-graduate industry experience.
